Working with the Elderly Community

We recently completed consultation work with member groups from the Elderly Community the results can be found below
Due to the large amount of projects the Partnership is already working on they believed it would be beneficial to create a sub-committee to meet on a more regular basis and deliver projects on a quicker output basis.

The projects we are currently working on are as follows;

Befriender Service

Through funding from us, we are working together with Swale Community and Voluntary Services who are providing a Befriender service for people aged 60 or over and a resident of Eastchurch, Leysdown or Warden.

Could you find the time to improve the quality of life for an older person in Eastern Sheppey and would like to volunteer?

Contact Louise on 01795 473828 for more information.

Free Weekly Shopping Trips

We are working together with Swale Community and Voluntary Services' transport scheme in offering free transport for anyone aged over 60, weekly shopping trips for people who don't have their own transport or are unable to access public transport.

Clubs & Quizes

Our Consultation indicated that the local community wanted to see more quiz nights and the creation of a Line Dancing Class.
We trialled a Quiz night on Wednesday 14th February, 7pm at the Warden Village Hall. and it was a great success that we are holding another one on 11th April.
We are also trialling a Line Dancing Class at Leysdown Village Hall every Wednesday from 7-8pm

Community Walks/Activities

Community Walk/Activity

Community Chef

Community Chef
The Community Chef Mike Spackman will be working with us to try and teach the Elderly community some new skills that will hopefully allow them to cook on a budget and how a meal for one can be easily made.
